CCWD staff have informed CCA that they are periodically having problems with sewer pumping stations near the lake. The sewer is being repeatedly clogged with “Swiffers” used for cleaning floors plus baby wipes. Apparently homeowners are just flushing these and other similar products down their toilets. This is damaging the sewer pumps and even disabling them. This practice is causing big problems. If a pump is jammed sewage could spill directly into the lake.
The pump was again clogged this week and the debris was removed by crews. There is no immediate problem.
Attached is a flyer that CCWD has sent out to the public when these type of problems occur. We are also including several pictures that illustrate what these problems look like in real time. Please check out this material and support CCWD’s effort to keep our sewage system here working well. We don’t need a sewage spill in the lake and adhering to their recommendations will insure we don’t. Check out this flyer: SEWER ABUSE
