Effective today, according to My Mother Lode.Com, burn permits are suspended for all outdoor residential burning below the elevation of 3,500 feet.
“It includes all of CAL Fire’s State Responsibility Area in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. New this year, CAL Fire is allowing late season burning, with a permit, above 3,500 feet, on permissive burn days. The burn day hotline will note that pile burning is suspended for Zone One (below 3,500 feet) and give daily information for Zone Two (above 3,500 feet). Click here for more information.”
Extra vigilance is obviously important as we move toward July 4th holiday events. Reportedly there have been around 1,300 wildfires in California having burned over 8,000 acres.
